The Best Clubs in Every City in the World

Yes, the title says it all. I figured since many of us may be traveling for the upcoming winter holidays, it was time to unveil my dirty secret project: A comprehensive list of all the best nightclubs in every city in the world, expertly compiled by the jetsetters who frequent them.

Some things to keep in mind:

1. The definition of ‘best.’ For the purposes of this list ‘best clubs’ are defined (but not limited to) clubs that
a. Radiate with obnoxious exclusivity
b. Are most likely challenging to get into without ‘connections’ (* indicates members only clubs)
c. Are non-sensically expensive
d. Are home to celebrity sightings and
e. Host famous DJs

So if you’re looking for a low-key, hassle free bar to enjoy a beer near cost price, this list is not for you.

2. What’s ‘hot’ changes in every city every month (or every week, in the case of New York). This guide, while ‘in’ right now, will eventually be outdated. So take these suggestions with a grain of salt.

WARNING: You might have ridiculous amounts of fun. You might get ripped off. Remember, clubbing is addictive.

You are the Zagat of Douche-ness! ;-)

  2. Anonymous Says:

That is a comprehensive list - wow. Le Souk though? Really?

    - C

  3. Ha Ha Sound Says:

Impressive list. Why do I picture you showing up at every single club to check each one out? ;+)

But seriously, as a former resident of Prague I can tell you that unless it’s undergone some drastic renovations in both style and crowd Radost FX doesn’t belong on this list. Not sure what it’s like now, but it definitely used to be kind of seedy in a weird yet good way.

And one night when I was there, somebody who was reputedly a Yugoslavian mobster let off a tear gas bomb. It was nuts, to say the least.

Barcelona - She Discoteca, New D (formerly Discotheque)

    naples - metropolis

    sao paulo - pacha

    montreal - buena notte, opera

    bangkok - 818

  8. Anonymous Says:

Hell yea, Le Souk is great! Maybe not completely appropriate for this more generic list, but it’s got great atmosphere, esp. on Sundays when they have the drummers and all.

  9. Shane Says:

San Francisco - Pink, Harlot, Vessel

New York - I’m aghast that this list doesn’t have either Bungalow or Beatrice on it. Scandal!

  10. girardasse Says:

    Hi there,
1/ Paris: What’s the difference between “Cab” and “Cabaret”?
You could consider the VIP Room, Castel, l’Etoile (not so much anymore actually?), Favela Chic…
2/ Hong Kong: you’re missing Kee Club and Armani Cafe.
3/ New York: Beatrice, Rose Bar, Tenjune, Butter, Upstairs, Socialista + I guess Bungalow 8, Marquee, Plumm, Home/Guesthouse, Cielo could also qualify, no?

  11. girardasse Says:

    Tokyo: Lex? Feria?

  12. modelbehavior Says:

@ all - thanks for adding on! woo!

@ shane - You’re right! Personally, I think Bungalow’s over. But Beatrice is hot, although insanely difficult to get into.

@ girardasse - Thanks for helping the list! I don’t think Marquee, Plumm, Butter, Home, Guesthouse or Cielo qualify as ‘best’ anymore if we’re trying to keep the NY list down to 5 - 6 places. Le Souk doesn’t either, but I just wanted the LES to be represented :)

I just have issues with Rose (which isn’t a club, I’ve never seen legit dancing there) and Tenjune, hence their non-inclusion. Unfair? Yes! But we all got our opinions :)

So I got some other suggestions for La Paz…

Soundbar is very exclusive since it opened again…

RamJam is also a good place to be…

Malegria is visited by mostly Bolivians but still very good to go to
