Re: Inappropriate Gym Attire

Remember reading my “Inappropriate Gym Attire” post last year? If not, I highly recommend it. It’s very funny. However, one of our selfabsorbed.me readers recently read the post and did not feel the same way. In fact, she was downright angry with me for writing it.

I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I really felt like this “lady” was out of line. At the very least, I felt that I needed to defend myself, which is why I have posted the comment, and my response (in red).

Your posting represents everything that’s wrong with this world today. I am not talking about what you’re ranting about. I’m talking about your rant itself. It’s baseless, except your own opinion.

My posting represents everything that’s wrong with the world today? Really? My post? Wow. Who knew a simple girl from Long Island could have such a profound impact on the lives of others?

Are you the authority on fashion? Is it out of fashion because you say so, or because you haven’t seen a scrunchie in a while? I bet you’re one of them girls that tie their hair back so tight, your hairline is going to recede when you’re older. Fashion? Try letting your hair down sometimes! Get a shoulder-length cut. Because that’s the fashion nowadays, heh.

No, I am not the authority on fashion, but Carrie Bradshaw is and she says scrunchies are lame. Also, I always wear my hair down. Ask my co-workers. But I do tend to throw it up in a ponytail when I get home, just to get it off my face, ya know? And thanks for the hairstyle advice, but I like my hair longer. It looks good on me.

Low cut tanktops help the body deal with heat generated during a work out. Someone’s body figure might make it inappropriate.

This may be so, but this woman’s tanktop was really low. She was displaying the most middle-aged woman-cleavage I have ever seen in my entire life. Anywhere. You don’t know because you weren’t there, but trust me, it was inappropriate.

Not all denims restrict motion.

Yes, it does.

As for attracting men with panty lines, why would you immediately think they’re trying to pick up a guy? Either you’re single and you’re self-conscience about how to attract one, or you’re sitting comfortably in a secure relationship (btw, EVERYONE keeps secrets). Get a gym membership at curves and work out with just women.

I am in a secure relationship, but I’d hardly call it “sitting pretty.” I don’t go to Curves for the same reason that I don’t go to Lucille Roberts. I like working out around men. It makes the whole working out thing a bit more interesting. And when you think about it, is that really such a bad thing??

The title of this web-site is that people are supposed to make funny about how people live. You’re just ranting and you sound like any other person who is just bitching about life. All you do is worry about what other people are doing, you should worry about yourself and how to make those people feel better. And walk up to some people and say, “You’re crotch is all out for everyone to see..”

This site is called “Selfabsorbed.me.” Of course I’m bitching about life. Because I’m self absorbed. Get it? And why on earth would I walk up to a complete stranger and tell them that their crotch is hanging out? If someone said that to me I would mace them. And then call the cops. Are you high?

You are the best! Loved the original post, but this update is even better. If this woman goes through life this high strung…she’s gonna have a heart attack at the gym. But her low cut tank top will allow the medics to get to work quicker…

I like the part accusing you for this post just being your opinion. Yes…everything we write and think and say is in fact, just our own opinion.

  3. Yaya Says:

this weirdo probably went to the gym that day wearing a low cut tank, with pantie lines galore, sporting the ever NYC present camel toe, and was re-pulling her hair into a scrunchy when she was reading this. why would telling someone their crotch is hanging out make them feel better? she’s had one too many perms.

Whoa - this nut’s had a few too many hits of the crazy juice.

My favourite part of that is when she says ‘..or you’re sitting comfortably in a secure relationship (btw, EVERYONE keeps secrets)’ Umm, WTF lady?!

I had the audacity to have an opinion about Madonna this week on my blog. By the end of that day, I had 62 comments, had been called a judgmental bitch, a whore, a cu*t (3 times, no less!) and told to go kill myself. Not bad for a day’s work.

I think when people have just got off the special bus and are unable to form most words, never mind an actual opinion of their own, they’ll attack anyone who has the ability to make articulate points about the things that matter - and goddamnit yes, inappropriate gym attire DOES matter!

Thanks for the support, ladies! Happy to know I’m not the only one who thinks this chick is a little off her rocker ;)

Bangs, 62 comments - good or bad - is AWESOME! Who cares what people are saying, as long as they are reading and commenting, right? Not everyone likes Perez, and he gets nasty comments, but his blog is still huge, so BLOG ON!
